How Dental Implants Can Enhance Your Health

Dentist Blog

Dental implants are surgically positioned in the jawbone, where they act as the bases of lost teeth. Because the metal in these implants fuses with the jawbone, the implants will not slip or damage the way fixed dentures could. And these materials cannot decay like the teeth that support standard bridgework.

Easier To Care For

Dentists fuse dental implants with a metal rod to form an implant. Because of this, caring for dental implants is like caring for natural teeth. You can use the same dental products and brush your teeth as often as you like. Plus, you do not have to learn new ways to clean them or add anything new to your dental hygiene routine. The only thing you might have to reconsider is your method of flossing. The layer that exists where a natural tooth would pop out is not there with an implant. Dentists recommend that you are extra careful when flossing along the gum line.

Preserves Bone Density

Every time a tooth is removed, there is bone and an empty socket. The bone surrounding the area where the tooth was removed will begin to break down and weaken over time since there is nothing there to support it. The jawbone will decrease in size, which could cause a lot of dental issues in the future. To prevent this, dental implants can be used to strengthen that area and can be a strong base for a tooth replacement.

More Comfortable

Dental implants are meant to be a permanent solution unlike dentures, which are only designed to be worn over gums and need to be removed and replaced with new ones regularly. Frustration is common with dentures as they also require patients to find the right adhesive to keep the plates intact. When dental implants are installed, they are meant to function just as well as natural teeth since the root is implanted directly into the jawbone. Implants provide a solid anchor that generally can last the rest of your life. It feels more natural when chewing or speaking than when you use dentures. Plus, they do not shift or move at all.

Dental implants are an excellent alternative to dental bridges or dentures. They can enhance your overall appearance by providing you with a better look. Implants can also preserve bone density, do not require extensive maintenance, and are comfortable. Discuss your options with your dentist to see if dental implants will be the best choice for you.

Improving My Dental Appointments

After dealing with a few root canals, I realized that it was time to take my dental hygiene a more seriously. I talked with my dentist about what I could do differently, and he was full of great suggestions that would help. He walked me through different ways to brush, floss, and take care of tartar buildup, and it was really amazing to see the difference that it made. I also started taking a fluoride supplement to strengthen my enamel. When I made it to my next appointment, my dentist was blown away with the improvement. This blog is all about improving your dental appointments by keeping your teeth healthier.
