Between Braces And Invisalign? What To Know About These Two Treatments

Dentist Blog

Are you considering braces to make adjustments to how your teeth are aligned? Still on the fence between whether you should get traditional braces or Invisalign? If so, it will help to know the following things about them, so you can make a more informed decision.

Braces

One thing you'll notice about traditional braces is that they are cheaper than getting an Invisalign treatment performed. Traditional braces have been around a long time, and every orthodontist is capable of handling your braces treatment to correct your teeth. If you are on a budget, traditional braces may be your best option because it will be more affordable.

You may not want to get braces because of how they are going to look on your teeth, but you do have several options that can make them more appealing. If you are younger, you may want colored brackets that can be a bit fun. If you're older, you can get clear brackets that blend in a little bit more. It really depends on how important the look of braces is to you.

Keep in mind that braces may not look the best, but they provide the fastest results to correct your teeth. If you want to have the process over with as quickly as possible, braces will be your best option to get the job done so you can enjoy your straight teeth.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a procedure that will cost more than traditional braces, mainly because it is more specialized. It is not a procedure that every orthodontist performs, so you'll need to find one in your area that offers it. This means that you may not be as successful if you are shopping around based on price alone.

It does require a bit of a commitment to use Invisalign to correct your teeth. You can remove the plastic trays, so it is important that you only do so when necessary. This means taking them out for eating, drinking things other than water, and brushing your teeth. If you take them out frequently for other reasons, it is only going to delay your treatment and make it take longer.

Of course, people won't really be able to notice the plastic trays when you are wearing them, which is the main appeal of Invisalign. They'll be able to see them if they know what to look for and take a closer look at your teeth, but for the most part the braces will not be noticeable to others.

Improving My Dental Appointments

After dealing with a few root canals, I realized that it was time to take my dental hygiene a more seriously. I talked with my dentist about what I could do differently, and he was full of great suggestions that would help. He walked me through different ways to brush, floss, and take care of tartar buildup, and it was really amazing to see the difference that it made. I also started taking a fluoride supplement to strengthen my enamel. When I made it to my next appointment, my dentist was blown away with the improvement. This blog is all about improving your dental appointments by keeping your teeth healthier.
