Dentist Blog

Dental treatments can be among the most common medical procedures that people will require. Unfortunately, a lack of information about common dental procedures and treatments can leave dental patients unable to make informed choices about their current condition and treatment options.

Why Would You Be Unaware Of A Cavity?

Cavities are very common dental problems that most people will develop at some point. It is common for individuals with cavities to experience intense discomfort and pain. However, this is not always the case, as there are many instances where a patient may not be aware that they have a cavity that needs to be treated. The most minor reason for a person to be unaware of a cavity is simply due to it not having reached the nerve of the tooth. Conversely, a cavity could be severe enough to have reached the nerve and completely killed it. The best way to ensure that any cavities are identified and treated is to undergo regular dental cleanings and evaluations.

What Is The Purpose Of Having A Crown Placed On A Tooth?

The placement of a dental crown is one of the most major procedures that a person can have done to a tooth. This procedure can be essential for saving a tooth that has suffered extensive damage or disease. A crown is a protective covering that will be placed over a tooth so that it will reinforce it and compensate for any weakening it has suffered from damage. Without the protection of the crown, the tooth would be extremely likely to shatter or break from the force of biting, chewing, or other routine impacts.

Is It Possible To Adjust The Shape Of A Tooth?

There are many reasons that a person may have misshapen teeth. This can be a very embarrassing problem for a person to suffer, and it is common for individuals to assume that it will not be possible for it to be corrected. Luckily, it is possible for a dentist to adjust the shape of a tooth through bonding and grinding. This will make it possible for you to have the shape of your teeth adjusted and corrected whether you are needing enamel removed or bonding added. Prior to undergoing this procedure, you will need to ensure that the teeth are free of existing cavities or other damage. As a result, it is common for individuals to schedule a routine cleaning and dental evaluations before they schedule an evaluation for this particular cosmetic procedure.

Improving My Dental Appointments

After dealing with a few root canals, I realized that it was time to take my dental hygiene a more seriously. I talked with my dentist about what I could do differently, and he was full of great suggestions that would help. He walked me through different ways to brush, floss, and take care of tartar buildup, and it was really amazing to see the difference that it made. I also started taking a fluoride supplement to strengthen my enamel. When I made it to my next appointment, my dentist was blown away with the improvement. This blog is all about improving your dental appointments by keeping your teeth healthier.
