What Is Your Dentist Going To Do About Your Missing Tooth?

Dentist Blog

You have a missing tooth, and you want to do what you can to remedy your situation. You want your tooth to be fixed so you can have a healthy and happy smile, and you want to know what your dentist will do for you to help you get the most out of your smile in the first place. You really do want to have a complete smile, but you also don't want to go into the dentist office unaware.

Your dentist is going to be able to do some things to help make your smile complete. Your smile is only as healthy as your overall dental care, so you need to do what you can to preserve your smile best. What can your dentist do to help you with your grin? Here is a guide to help you learn what your dentist will do to help your smile be improved, depending on your overall dental health, your smile in general, and where your missing tooth is.

Install a dental implant

A dental implant is a tooth that is placed in an area where a tooth is missing, and is a great way to help your smile feel more complete. If your smile is compromised in any way and your dentist is able to work with your jaw bone to help make your smile better, you can get a dental implant. A dental implant is best placed in a spot of your mouth where your missing tooth area is most visible, such as where your main front tooth goes or in your bottom teeth area. You can put a dental implant in your mouth with great results, but keep in mind dental insurance will not usually help with this type of dental issue.

Install a dental bridge

If you don't have a lot of money in your budget or if you have a few missing teeth but you don't have a healthy enough jaw bone to put in a dental implant, you can put in a dental bridge instead. Your dental bridge can be a great solution to your dental issue, and can also help you fill in the spaces immediately where you have missing teeth so you can perfect your smile. Your dentist will let you know if a dental bridge is your best option, although you can discuss dentures and other alternatives for your oral health and your dental issue as well.

Improving My Dental Appointments

After dealing with a few root canals, I realized that it was time to take my dental hygiene a more seriously. I talked with my dentist about what I could do differently, and he was full of great suggestions that would help. He walked me through different ways to brush, floss, and take care of tartar buildup, and it was really amazing to see the difference that it made. I also started taking a fluoride supplement to strengthen my enamel. When I made it to my next appointment, my dentist was blown away with the improvement. This blog is all about improving your dental appointments by keeping your teeth healthier.
