3 Dental Tips For Whiter Teeth

Dentist Blog

A lot of people want their teeth to be as white and bright as possible. This creates an eye-catching smile and teeth that look very healthy. While getting your teeth whitened at the dentist is a great option, there are certain things that you can do at home that can also help your teeth either become whiter or stay white after you have had them professionally whitened. Here are three dental tips for whiter teeth.

1. Use Baking Soda

One excellent way to help keep your teeth whiter is to brush them with baking soda. You can do this a couple of different ways. You can get toothpaste that has baking soda in it and brush your teeth with this twice each day, or you can simply use straight baking soda on your toothbrush and use this once or twice a week. The agents in the baking soda react with your teeth to remove stains and create a whitening effect. Just make sure you are careful with the baking soda because you don't want to swallow it or use so much that it hurts your gums or teeth.

2. Get A New Toothbrush

It is recommended that you get a new toothbrush every 3 months. The reason for this being that germs can build up on your toothbrush and each time you brush you are basically putting all of those germs right back into your mouth. These germs can cause plaque and tartar to form on your teeth and can cause infections in your gums. This can lead to teeth discoloration as a side effect, which is the exact opposite of what you want when you decide to brush your teeth. Changing out your toothbrush regularly reduces this problem and allows your teeth to become whiter and healthier with regular brushing.

3. Eat Foods That Are Hard And Crispy

There are actual some foods that naturally do a good job of cleaning your teeth.  These foods are generally hard and crispy in nature, because their firm texture allows them to actually remove build-up from your teeth. A great example of a food that is effective at cleaning your teeth is a nut. Eating foods like this throughout the day can help keep your teeth cleaner between brushings, which in turn helps them to stay whiter.

You can help keep your teeth looking white by using baking soda when brushing, changing out your toothbrush regularly, and eating foods that are hard and crispy. You can find more information here!

Improving My Dental Appointments

After dealing with a few root canals, I realized that it was time to take my dental hygiene a more seriously. I talked with my dentist about what I could do differently, and he was full of great suggestions that would help. He walked me through different ways to brush, floss, and take care of tartar buildup, and it was really amazing to see the difference that it made. I also started taking a fluoride supplement to strengthen my enamel. When I made it to my next appointment, my dentist was blown away with the improvement. This blog is all about improving your dental appointments by keeping your teeth healthier.
